PLN Holds Anti-Blackout Electricity Simulation During PON XX

The State Electricity Company (PLN) held an electrical simulation, one of which was at the Mimika Sport Complex (MSC) venue, Mimika Regency, Papua.

This is a form of ensuring the reliability of the electrical system in the context of the success of the upcoming XX Papua PON.

The electricity simulation was carried out to see PLN's readiness to deal with disturbances during the implementation of PON XX later.

PT PLN (Persero)'s Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara, Syamsul Huda, during his visit to Jayapura and Mimika expressed optimism about the existing electricity infrastructure for PON XX Papua.

"From the results I saw directly in the field, I am optimistic that PLN is able to serve the electricity needs for PON XX well. Both in Jayapura, in Timika and in Merauke, I also received reports that they were ready," said Huda.

He said, if the electricity goes out in one of the venues, the back-up can already run.

He witnessed how a simulation from PLN officers secures the electricity supply at one of the venues in Timika.

"We simulate that if the electricity system from PLN goes out, the backups can run, there are UPS and mobile generators that we install, so there is practically no flickering when there is a disturbance in the PLN electricity system," he said.

The implementation of the simulation starts from a normal state where the venue's load is supplied by the existing electricity network.

Then, the officers who were ready on the 3 Ways Load Break Switch (LBS) turned off the electricity supply to the venue to make it look as if there was a disturbance in the electrical system.

This condition causes the electricity supply to the customer installation (venue) to be automatically taken over by the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery, before finally the generator operates automatically supplying electricity to the venue. In this way the electricity at the venue does not experience a flicker / blackout.

Backup supply system with Mobile Genset and UPS is used in most venues of PON XX Papua.

This system is used to maintain important installations that must not occur / flicker such as lighting and scoreboard / videotron.

Meanwhile, from the readiness of the number of personnel for electrical security for PON XX, PLN will prepare 1,574 officers spread across 4 clusters of organizers.

It will also send additional personnel from units around Papua, particularly Sulawesi, Maluku and Nusa Tenggara, so that all send officers to Papua to assist in the implementation of PON XX.

Regarding the current conditions, Huda also ensures that all personnel are in good health when on duty later.

For duty, PLN employees are said to have strict medical procedures, there is even a special health team to accompany operators, so as not to cause concern for other parties involved in the field.
