Women from Port Numbay Ready to Welcome PON with Handicrafts

In order to see the readiness of 10 traditional villages related to vaccination and the readiness of craftswomen to welcome PON XX, members of the MRP Pokja Perempuan made a working visit to 10 traditional villages.

MRP Papua Women Working Group member Nerlince Wamuar Rollo in Engros Village, Friday (10/9) yesterday said, from the results of her monitoring in 10 traditional villages, indigenous women were able to independently prepare their handicrafts in the form of noken and souvenirs to support the implementation of PON. although not supported by the government.

"The initial visit from Skouw, three villages, Kayo Pulo, Kayo Batu, Waena, Nafri, Yoka and Engros Village as well as Tobati, we saw that the preparations for PON were many women who had made crafts, and their preparations were solid and the results of the crafts that we saw were the price. affordable and worth buying,” he said.

Although he did not ask PB PON for a stand for the sale of handicrafts, he and the women of Port Numbay have prepared a special gallery located on Jalan Raya Holtekamp to display their handicrafts in the center of the gallery which will be inaugurated in the near future.

Odoafi Rollo's wife said that with this visit, she was proud because during the 4 years she had been in the MRP from the coaching they had carried out they had shown their abilities without government assistance.

The representatives of the women in Waena Delila Ibo Village expressed their appreciation for the MRP's visit and hoped that it would continue to be a good collaboration in advancing Papuan women to be able to compete.

“This visit from my mother was very good, it was able to strengthen the mothers in this village. So far, they only work at home, even though they work diligently, and for PON they are ready, they already have some of their works that are ready to be sold to PON at an affordable price,” he said.
