PLN uses SCADA technology to increase the reliability of Papuan PON electricity

PT PLN (Persero) exerts all efforts in maintaining the reliability of electricity supply to ensure the success of the National Sports Week (PON) in Papua on October 2-15, 2021.

The Company uses integrated technology, namely Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), which is a technology to combine the functions of centralized monitoring, control and remote data retrieval.

"We have operated the Jayapura sub-system, the Timika sub-system, and the Merauke sub-system through SCADA technology," said General Manager of PLN's Papua and West Papua Regional Main Unit (UIW P2B) Abdul Farid in a statement quoted in Jakarta, Thursday.

In the Papua PON event, PLN deployed a team to secure the electricity supply as many as 1,574 personnel from the internal Papua and West Papua Regional Parent Units (UIW) as well as from outside Papua.

PLN not only provides a commitment to the reliability of electricity supply, but also a number of other supports.

This state stun company also provides support in the success of PON Papua, such as the cost of building electricity infrastructure and reliability of up to Rp. 308.5 billion, and sponsorship of Rp. 5.5 billion.

On the other hand, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic must of course be prepared by PLN by taking various anticipatory steps to minimize the potential for the virus to spread while personnel are on duty.

In addition to assisting health workers for personnel, PLN has also prepared a safe house for officers who are confirmed positive while carrying out their duties.

PLN Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara Syamsul Huda said the company's priority in implementing the Papua PON is the reliability of electricity supply to both the match locations and other strategic locations.

"The most important thing in implementing PON is the reliability of the electricity supply. Not only blackouts, we also avoid flickering," he concluded.

Huda further asked the personnel on duty to continue to coordinate at each location to ensure the reliability of the electricity supply, as well as anticipate the emergence of problems.
