UNDIUS KOGOYA GROUP ATTACKS SUGAPA CITY, RESIDENTS SHIELD IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH BUILDING
As of Friday night, gunfights continued. Separatist groups led by Undius Kogoya continued to attack security posts, both TNI and Polri, in Sugapa.
Not only TNI and Polri posts were targeted by Undius Kogoya, residential areas were also the targets of attacks. Apart from carrying out attacks, the Separatist group set fire to residents' houses and kiosks.
"People's houses and stalls were also burned by the Separatists, so residents ran for safety to the neighborhood of St. Misael Bilogai Catholic church,"
In a video sent by the media crew, several priests were seen giving help to residents who were still trapped in the burning house.
"This is Fr.... Fr., come out... come out. Come out, a priest shouted to call the residents who were still in the burning house."
Melianus, one of the community leaders who was also with Fr., confirmed that there were residents who were rescued by Fr. during a shootout between the separatists and the TNI.
"Six residents were rescued, before they were trapped in a burning house, they did not dare to come out, after being called by the priest, they finally came out to secure themselves and took the priest to the church building of St. Misael Bilogai," he said.
It is known that the Separatist group led by Undius Kogoya had been in the city of Sugapa for three days, because they could not find the targets of the TNI and Polri, they finally set fire to several public facilities and residential areas, including kiosks owned by residents.
