Vice President Ma'ruf Amin attended the closing ceremony of the XX National Sports Week (PON) at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, Friday night at 19.00 WIT or 17.00 WIB.

Based on observations on the official Youtube account of PON XX PAPUA 2021, Vice President Ma'ruf and Wury Estu Handayani arrived at the Lukas Enembe Stadium wearing red sports jackets and wearing Papuan headdresses.

To mark the start of the event, the song Indonesia Raya was sung, followed by a traditional Papuan dance accompanied by musical instruments played by musician Andi Rianto. The event was also attended by a number of artists such as Nogei, Blasta Rap Merauke, NOAH, Saykoji, Iwa K. and Yura Yunita.

The presence of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the closing of the XX Papua PON is included in the agenda of the Vice President's working visit to eastern Indonesia, such as Maluku, West Papua, Papua and East Nusa Tenggara.

Regarding the security for the closure of the XX Papua PON, a total of 2,891 joint military and police officers were deployed.

Head of the Deraku Cartenz Ops Task Force Kombes Dedy Sumarsono said the PON closing event prioritized the implementation of health protocols to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

"The closure of the Papua PON also prioritizes health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Sumarsono in Jayapura, Friday.

Sumarsono also said that all spectators who were present at the Lukas Enembe Stadium were required to show proof of having received the COVID-19 vaccine.

"We urge the public to always maintain the safety and comfort of the closure of the Papua PON and prioritize health protocols, use masks, maintain distance and not crowd," said Sumarsono.
