Impressed by Papua's Development-Opening of PON, KKB Hands over 6 Senpi to TNI

The armed criminal group (KKB) handed over 6 firearms (senpi) and their ammunition to the TNI. The handover of guns was carried out shortly after the opening of the National Sports Week (PON).

KKB was moved after seeing the seriousness of the Indonesian government in developing Papua. In addition, they were amazed at the grand opening of the PON which was opened directly by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Actually, they have kept these weapons and ammunition for so long, because they think that Papua will be independent, but after seeing the construction and implementation of the PON in Papua, they believe that this is true that Papua is an inseparable part of the framework of the Republic of Indonesia," said Brigadier General Iwan in his statement, Friday (15/10/2021).

He said the handover of guns was also because his party continued to communicate with the community.

"The surrender of these two sympathizers is also the fruit of appropriate social communication in accordance with the direction of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Commander Maj. Gen. Ignatius Yogo Triyono so that all personnel of the XVII Cenderawasih Military Command line unit can carry out social communication with a local wisdom approach to the Papuan people," he added.

The handover was held in the Hall of Kodim 1709/Yawa on Wednesday (13/10). The rifles and ammunition were handed over to the terrorist separatist group (KST) in the Angkaisera District and North Yapen District, Yapen Islands Regency.

Two KKB sympathizers handed over 6 assembled rifles consisting of 4 long barrels, 2 pistols, 97 rounds of munitions, 1 handy talkie (HT), 4 morning star flags, and several KST documents.

On the same occasion, Danrem asked the TPN/OPM Leader of the Saireri Region, Fernando Worabai and his followers to return to the motherland immediately.

"We urge our brother Fernando Worabai to return to the fold of the Republic of Indonesia and let's together create an atmosphere of security and social order that is conducive for the future of the younger generation and also to accelerate the development that is currently underway in this region, so that improving the welfare of the Yapen community can be carried out. " he said.

Also attending the event were Dandim 1709/Yawa Lieutenant Colonel Leon Pangaribuan, Kaciter Korem 173/PVB Lieutenant Colonel Inf Usep Setiyawan, Kajari Serui Marcelo Bellah, Waropen Police Chief AKBP Naharuddin, Danramil 1709-02/Yaptim Inf Captain Marselus Worabay, and Babinsa Sertu Jhonias M Riyoli.
