Bung Karno Statue at PLBN Skouw, Deputy II BNNP: Don't Forget The Founding Fathers

The statue of the Proclaimer Bung Karno was placed at the Skouw Muara Tami PLBN, Jayapura City, on the RI-PNG border in northern Papua as a reminder that this great country exists because of the struggle of the founding fathers.

The statue with a height of 16 meters and built on a 2.5 meter foundation is located right on the right corner of the road leading to the People's Market or the left corner of the road leading to the boundary line.

BNPP Deputy II Komjen Pol Paulus Waterpauw was invited to take a photo together with the Bung Karno Statue in the background, by mothers from the Ministry of Home Affairs who traveled to PLBN Skouw, Tuesday (16/11/2021).

''This statue is placed here as a symbol that this is the founder of the Republic of Indonesia. This is very good to give an understanding that we must not forget the services of the founding fathers,'' explained BNPP Deputy II Komjen Paulus Waterpauw when reviewing the statue at PLBN Skouw, Tuesday (16/11/2021).

It was emphasized that if there were no services from the founding fathers, we would not be in the situation we are in today. "We must not forget, we are in a situation like today, advancing as we are today because our predecessors, the founding fathers, they fought, were detained and even lost their body and soul for the establishment of this country," he explained again.

Bung Karno Statue and Garuda Statue were built at 7 PLBN in Indonesia. "The Bung Karno statue and the Garuda statue are icons and must be in all PLBN," said Head of Sub-Directorate for Security and Cleanliness of PLBN Skouw Brendina Mathilda Pusung.

The Soekarno statue is painted black in the style of making a speech while holding his stick.

PLBN head Skouw Yan Numberi suggested that the black paint on the statue be replaced with golden yellow paint like the Garuda statue in front of the PLBN office.

''We propose to replace the paint with a gold color like the color of the Garuda statue in front of the PLBN office,'' he explained.

The replacement of the statue's paint to gold has the support of BNPP Deputy II Komjen Paulus Waterpauw. “The initial statue was black and there was a wish from the Head of PBLN Skouw Pak Yan Numberi and his staff to turn it into a golden color. I agree because the statue must be embellished and made so grand so that it becomes a beautiful impression for our children and grandchildren to see,” he explained.
