Continue the Acceleration of Development, Make Papua Safe and Prosperous
The government has a strong commitment to accelerate the development of welfare in the Papua region. This is marked by the issuance of various affirmative policies for the land of Papua.
Vice President (Vice President), K.H Ma'ruf Amin said, going forward, this acceleration will continue to be continued by all government institutions, both at the center and in the regions, to realize a safe and prosperous Papua.
"The government will also continue development as outlined in the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) and the law to improve welfare within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia to make Papua safe and prosperous," said Ma'ruf Amin when giving his press statement after chairing a meeting on Papua. at the official residence, Monday (1/10/2021).
Furthermore, regarding security issues in Papua, the government will also be present as well as possible to handle this.
"The government handles it as well as possible in accordance with the constitutional function that represents the presence of the state which has been handled very well," said the Vice President.
To that end, the Vice President gave directions to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) to lead coordination with the TNI Commander, National Police Chief, and the Head of BIN so that acts of violence in Papua can be handled properly in the short, medium and long term.
"The TNI, Polri, BIN will continue to carry out their duties to protect civilians and enforce law and security for rioters," explained the Vice President.
On the other hand, the Vice President also gave directions to the ranks in the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health to be able to take swift steps in helping refugees in Papua.
"We have assigned the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Health to handle refugees as well as possible. Regarding health, about social, about the kitchen in general. We ask the Ministry of Social Affairs and [Ministry] of Health to immediately take steps," said the Vice President.
The Vice President also advised all religious leaders and community leaders in Papua to continue to work together with the government to create a conducive atmosphere in Papua, so that all scheduled programs can be carried out properly.
"It is called to the entire community, especially religious leaders, traditional leaders to remain calm and continue to cooperate with the government, government officials and local officials," concluded the vice president.
The meeting was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, National Police Chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto and BIN Head Budi Gunawan.
