Ondofolo Sentani Requests No Political Activities Related to the Death of the Late Theys

Ondofolo Sentani Yanto Eluay, who is also the son of the late Theys H. Eluay, asked all parties, both groups and individuals, not to use the day of his parents' death for political purposes.

This statement was delivered directly by Yanto Eluay on behalf of his family as well as Ondofolo Sentani at the Pendopo, Sentani, Jayapura district, on Monday (10/2021).

Yanto emphasized that previously the extended family of the late Theys Eluay had made a peace declaration on November 10, 2018. In the peace declaration, a statement of position was conveyed.

"In the statement above, we forgive and pardon all those who were directly or indirectly involved in the kidnapping and murder of our late parents," he said.

Yanto Eluay said that They Eluay's family had withdrawn the report on the kidnapping of Theys Eluay as a case of human rights violations, because the family had fully forgiven and said that the Theys Eluay case had been withdrawn. "This case should not become a case of human rights violations," he said.

Yanto said that so far the case of Theys Eluay has always been used as a commodity by NGOs and also by other communities, therefore, we have stopped officially through their families, that theys are figures who fight for the interests of the Papuan people.

"So Theys Eluay's status as an independent Papuan leader, we have stopped, we know that our parents all their lives worked for the interests of the Republic of Indonesia, he was one of the figures who represented the Papuan people, especially Jayapura district in the Pepera Struggle process, 1026 Papuan figures sparked The people's opinion was that they decided to be part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, at that time one of them was our late father Theys Eluay,” he said.

For this reason, he urges no party to take advantage of this moment as political activities, Papua's political status within the Republic of Indonesia is final. "Let's focus on advancing the welfare of the Papuan people, let's no longer contribute to fertilizing, questioning and questioning the process of integration of West Papua into the Republic of Indonesia," said Yanto Eluay.

On a separate occasion, the religious leader Pdt. Jones Wenda invites all people to always maintain a safe and peaceful sitkamtibmas, do not make actions that can harm themselves or others.

"Let's maintain a better Sitkamtibmas, don't be provoked by political actions that can harm ourselves and many people," he added.

Rev. Jones will also issue an appeal for the Sitkamtibmas through BPHS KINGMI so that the letter of appeal issued can have a good impact on the Sitkamtibas in Papua.
