Special Autonomy Help Fulfill Community Needs in Inland Papua

The presence of Otsus has helped the lives of the Papuan people. This was stated by Papuan leader Abisai Rollo, SH.

"With the existence of Otsus, people in every village in Papua can get help, the feeling of happiness is there, while if Otsus is broken it will make it difficult for the community," he said, quoted Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

He also provided support for the continuation of Otsus volume II. However, he hopes that the implementation of Otsus Volume II in Papua Province can run clearly and transparently and be accompanied by strict supervision.

"The policy chosen by the Central Government for development in Papua is the best choice," he said.

To that end, he asked the provincial government and the central government to evaluate the Otsus funds so that the allocations were really enjoyed by the Papuan people.

He also emphasized that the Papuan people should not be used by groups on behalf of Papua to reject Otsus and reject Papua as part of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia.

"Because Otsus really helps the people of Papua and also development in Papua and finally Papua is a legitimate part of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.

The same thing was conveyed by Community Leader Kemtuk Gresi, Jayapura Regency Simon Bame, S.Pd. According to him, the presence of Otsus has provided many benefits for the people of Papua.

"One of them is in the field of education, where the special autonomy funds can help Papuan children, especially those in the village to get an education," he said.

In addition, Otsus can help improve Papuan human resources so that they can occupy strategic positions in government, both in Papua and outside Papua.
