Former OPM Commander Asks Governor and Officials in Papua to Resign
Former Commander of the National Liberation Army (TPN) of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) in Keerom Regency, Lambert Pekikir asked the Governor of Papua Province, Lukas Enembe, along with regional officials, to resign.
Lambert said his request was similar to what the Papuan people wanted. "The state has the power, if a leader, the Governor of Papua, the regional head does not carry out his duties properly, he should resign," said Lambert Pekikir, Friday (10/12).
He said, although the Papuan public urged to resign, there needed to be firmness from the Central Government. "Because I can't possibly lower the governor," he said.
According to Lambert, officials in Papua should carry out the state's agenda. So if it is negligent, it deserves to be replaced. "Including Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe," he added.
He saw that Lukas Enembe's condition was no longer optimal because of the illness he was experiencing. As a result, a number of decisions and statements of Luke, made a blunder. "Resigning from office, the Minister of Home Affairs can do that, resign, well step down," he concluded.
The former Free Papuan fighter views that the government in Papua is controlled by a number of 'Minor Governors'. These individuals influence the Governor of Papua, and impose their interests for certain purposes.
"Governors - small governors who condition it, funds are arranged for their interests, while the people continue to suffer," he was annoyed.
Lambert Pekikir and his troops for 20 years lived in the middle of the jungle of Papua. He is known as the ruler of 'Victoria Headquarters'. In mid-2013, Lambert returned to Mother Earth's lap. Even though he no longer holds a gun, he continues to fight against injustice and corruption.
Previously, the former OPM figure asked the government to be committed to eradicating corruption in Papua. "Otsus funds have been misused by elements in the administration of Otsus in the government," he said.
He also recounted that the journey of Special Autonomy since nearly three decades has left many Papuans suffering. Otsus is considered not to belong to the Papuan people.
For him, Otsus is just a 'candy' offered by the central government as a bridge to enrich themselves. "The president must order the KPK and the police to arrest the corruptors who eliminate the Special Autonomy funds," he said.
