Formal Workers in Manokwari Must Join BPJS Employment, Here are the Benefits
BP Jamsostek Manokwari Branch encourages business entities or employers to register their employees in the BPJS Employment Program which includes four guarantee programs.
The four BPJS Employment programs in question, include the occupational health insurance program, the death insurance program, the old-age insurance program and the pension insurance program.
"Of these 4 programs, every employee who works in a business entity or employer is mandatory," said the Head of BP Jamsostek Manokwari Branch, Carolus Sigalingging to reporters, Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
Carolus explained that the guarantee contribution will follow the wages or salaries reported by the participants, meaning that the contributions will be based on the actual wages. The goal is that the risks and benefits received by participants are appropriate.
“The four program packages have the contribution value according to the actual salary report, because the contribution value will be calculated from the reported salary or wages. For example, with a standard wage of IDR 3.2 million, the monthly contribution is IDR 200 thousand for the BPJS Employment program package,” he explained.
According to Carolus, formal sector workers are required to join the guarantee program. This is to ensure that there is a guarantee for the layoff policy from the company. "This is the reason why the formal sector must participate in savings or pensions, when layoffs occur, they can be taken," he said.
On that occasion, Carolus also explained the contributions of informal sector workers or non-wage workers, such as fishermen, farmers, motorcycle taxi drivers and so on.
"The contribution they have to pay every month is IDR 16,800, because they only get two programs, namely Accident Insurance and Death Insurance," explained Carolus.
