Police: Peaceful Operation Cartenz Focuses on the Welfare of Papuans

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) changed the name of Operation Nemangkawi to Operation Peaceful Cartenz 2022 to tackle the terrorist armed criminal group (KKB) in Papua.

The National Police will make Papuan people (OAP) the main target of coaching in this operation. "(OAP) is an operational target, meaning a coaching target," said the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, in Jakarta, Thursday, January 13, 2022.

According to him, Polri personnel will provide guidance to the Papuan people in various fields during the Cartenz Peace Operation, one of which is agriculture.
 
"So, there are efforts by the Police together with the community to carry out activities, the aim is to improve the welfare of the community. It's called bimas noken or an approach to the community," he said.
 
Ramadhan said the work pattern of the Cartenz Peace Operations prioritized preventive and persuasive actions. However, he has not been able to explain in detail how the work pattern of the Cartenz Peace Operation which is valid for six months starting January 25, 2022.

"It is supported by other functions, namely preventive, Sabhara, and law enforcement (gakkum). So, Gakkum is a supporting function," he said.
