Serda Miskel Rumbiak, a Papuan son who died, was shot by KKB in Maybrat



Second Sergeant (Serda) Miskel Rumbiak died in a shootout with an armed criminal group (KKB) in East Aifat District, Maybrat Regency, West Papua, Thursday (20/1/2022). While four of his colleagues were injured, three of them had serious gunshot wounds that required surgery.

Serda Miskel is a Papuan son who is a soldier in the Indonesian Army. He is from Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua. Currently, the body is buried at the Yon Sipur 20 PPA/Sorong Headquarters.
 
Furthermore, according to the plan, the body will be sent to the funeral home in his hometown, Friwen Village, Raja Ampat, Friday (21/1/2022).

Head of Information for Kodam XVIII/Kasuari Lieutenant Colonel Arm Hendra Pesireron said that this gun battle was between the joint troops of the 762/VYS Infantry Battalion and the 20th Combat Engineer Battalion/PPA with the KKB in Faankahrio Village. At the time of the incident, the members were working to build two bridges at the request of the Regency Government (Pemkab) of Maybrat.
 
The construction of this bridge is so that the refugees can return to their respective villages following the riots in Kisor some time ago.

"Currently, the victims have been transferred and treated at the ER at RSAL Sorong for intensive care," he said, Thursday (20/1/2022).

Apart from Serda Miskel, another soldier who was injured was Sergeant Darusman (a gunshot wound to the left side of the abdomen). Then Prada Aziz Rengen (severe gunshot wound to the back). Prada Abraham (gunshot wound to the right shoulder, left and left groin) and Prada (shrapnel wound to the right thigh).
 
Information obtained, joint forces have been deployed to pursue the perpetrators of the attack on TNI soldiers in Maybrat.
