Deputy Governor of Central Java hands over aid for mosques in Papua
Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen handed over assistance to the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque in Jayapura City to help accelerate the construction of one of the large-capacity mosques in Papua.
"During our recent visit to several places in Papua during the XX PON, it was discovered that the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque had not yet been completed," said Taj Yasin in Jayapura, Wednesday.
According to him, when he returned to Central Java his party reported to the Governor regarding the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque and finally agreed to provide assistance.
"In addition to handing over aid, our visit is also to stay in touch with our brothers and sisters in Papua," he said.
He explained that although the assistance could be delivered indirectly via "zoom", his party agreed that it should be submitted directly so that friendship could be forged even better.
In line with Taj Yasin Maimoen, Regional Secretary (Sekda) Papua Ridwan Ruikutun said the Baiturrahim Grand Mosque, which is located in the downtown area of Jayapura City, can no longer accommodate worshipers in the surrounding area, so renovations are needed to accommodate all worshipers.
"Thank you for the assistance provided by the Deputy Governor of Central Java for the construction of the Baiturrahim Jayapura Grand Mosque," he said.
He added that the assistance was very meaningful in developing the mosque as a proper place of worship for the surrounding community.
"We expect all citizens to cultivate a high sense of solidarity and continue to develop an attitude of tolerance," he said.
