Head of Public Works Office Nduga Initiates Rice Planting

Geographical location is one of the strategic determinants of a regional location in the regional economic system as well as the carrying capacity of the region. Geographically, Nduga Regency is located between 137,450 – 139,500 east longitude and 4,000 – 4,500 south latitude.
 
Nduga Regency is currently carrying out rice planting efforts initiated by the Head of Public Works Department, Gay Murib. The rice is planted on an area of 3 hectares in Kerepkuri village, Kerepkuri District, Nduga Regency.

Even Gay has also prepared an area of 6 hectares for rice planting by involving the community. According to Gay, the rice planting has been carried out since last year, which at first was just a trial and error.

"I see from our brothers who are outside Papua and in Merauke, and I have the intention to try, thank God it worked on this 3 hectares of land," he said Sunday (6/2) morning.

He also explained that the initiation was done to change the pattern of the local community to have a fixed opinion. "Their residents often garden and move, hopefully this step can bring changes to the community," he explained.
 
In addition, Gay has also prepared training for the community to grow rice. "While still from the family and we will form a farmer group, and we are also working with the Pastor in Nduga," said Gay.

Meanwhile, the Nduga Police Chief, AKBP I Komang Budiartha gave his appreciation to Gay Pupils who have an inspiring spirit for the local community. "It is extraordinary that we have checked and it is true that there is rice farming land in Nduga," he said.

Besides that, his party will also help to improve the standard of living of the people in Nduga through agriculture. "In addition to security duties, the police also have other duties, namely to provide innovative changes for the community in terms of life. We will provide the community," he explained.
