Kopassus General Threatens KKB: We Won't Be Silent If We Keep Shooting

The terrorist acts, which are often carried out by members of the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB), received a strong response from the new Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command, Major General (Mayjen) TNI Teguh Muji Angkasa.

As is known, on January 28, 2022, three TNI soldiers died while carrying out their duties in Papua.

The late Second Sergeant (Serda) Rizal Maulana Arifin, Private First (Pratu) Tupel Alomoan Baraza, and Pratu Rahman Tomilawa, became victims of the savagery of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) terrorist group in a shootout in Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua.

The three soldiers of the Indonesian Army were not the first. Many TNI members have died as a result of the KKB's barbaric actions.

Through VIVA Military monitoring, TNI Major General Teguh Muji Angkasa, who had just been appointed as Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih, gave a firm statement against a series of OPM KKB actions.

The former Commander General of the Special Forces Command (Danjen Kopassus) stated that the TNI will not remain silent if it continues to be fired upon. As human beings, TNI soldiers will fight back if their lives continue to be threatened.

However, Teguh did not necessarily agree to resolve the problems in Papua with violence. In accordance with the instructions of the TNI Commander, General TNI Andika Perkasa, as the leader of Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih he will continue to adopt and prioritize a humanist approach.

What is clear, according to him, is that peace in Papua is the main thing. If the situation in Papua is safe and peaceful, then the wheels of the economy will run properly without any fear of the dangers of KKB attacks. This will be the key to the welfare of the Papuan people in the future.

"It's impossible for us either, when we're being shot at, it's impossible to just stand still. As humans, we will carry out resistance efforts. However, soft approaches remain a priority and the main thing," said Major General TNI Teguh Muji Angkasa.

"Whatever it is, all of our people in Papua must find peace. When peace can be created, the economy can run normally, automatically prosperity will be realized," he said.

Therefore, Teguh asked all elements of the Papuan community to be able to provide support to carry out their duties, as the new leader in Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih.

"I ask for your support in carrying out my duties at Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih," said the Army High Officer (Pati) who also served as Assistant Intelligence Commander General of the Special Forces Command (Asintel Danjen Kopassus).
