Lambert Jitmau Asks the Central Government to Fight for the Expansion of South West Papua

The Mayor of Sorong, Lambert Jitmau, asked the central government to fight for the province of Southwest Papua because the people of West Papua have been fighting for this for a long time.

"Because this province has been fought for by the community for 19 years, until the Presidential mandate (Ampres) has been issued twice in Senayan, but unfortunately Senayan never stipulates that," said Lambert in the Papua Strategic Policy Forum webiner with the theme Paemekaran Papua For Whom, Thursday. (24/02/2022).
 
Although it has not been determined, according to Lamber, this does not reduce the enthusiasm of the people of Sorong Raya to continue to fight for the province.

"So I appeal to the President, DPR RI and all relevant Ministries, to let us agree on the division of this province, we only need one thing, namely the expansion of the province of Southwest Papua," he said.

Not only that, according to Lambert, for readiness, such as the Natural Resources (SDA), Human Resources (HR) and Regional Original Income (PAD) sectors, the Province of Southwest Papua is quite ready.

"Next we will complete the existing deficiencies," he said.

He said, if the province is answered, then one mayor and five regents are ready to provide support.

"What are you waiting for, and when? I sincerely beg you, let's build togetherness," he said.
 
"There should be no excuses with no budget, or no funding because we candidates for the Southwest Papua Province are very ready because we have natural resources, and the PAD is extraordinary," he said.

For this reason, Lambert, who is also the head of the division team for the Southwest Papua Province, asked the president and the Minister of Finance to look into the matter.

"Don't hesitate about the budget, because the land of Papua is rich. Now it's only a matter of how to manage it to present PAD," he said.

"And once again We are very prepared, do not doubt us, from all available resources," he said.
 
As the number one person in Sorong City, according to Lambert, the request was a complaint from the people of Sorong Raya.

"I represent other friends, if this request is not granted then how sad," he said.

"We ask that regarding the expansion there needs to be a balance between Papua and West Papua, feeling a sense of togetherness in one race, ethnicity and one big island," he said.

Not only that, Lambert also ensures that if the division of the province is answered, then the entire people of Southwest Papua are ready to embrace those who are not native Papuans.

"This is a form of unity within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. So let's unite to build Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke so that all of our people can feel prosperity. Our President is waiting for an answer from Senayan," he added.
