Involve Indigenous Peoples, Preparation of Revision of Spatial Planning for Papua Province is Expected to Be Completed in 3 Months




The Papuan Provincial Government through the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of Papua Province held Public Consultation III (KP-3) on the Preparation of the Revised Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) for the Province of Papua at the Horison Ultima Entrop Hotel, Jayapura City.
 
The activity was officially opened by the Governor of Papua, represented by the expert staff of the Governor, Elsye P. Rumbekwan, as an expert staff for Social Affairs and HR as well as launching SIMTARU 2.0.

In order to realize a spatial plan that is transparent, participatory, inclusive and in line with the prevailing laws and regulations, as well as supporting the community, the Papua Provincial Government involves a number of elements.

Starting from the Central Government, Papuan People's Assembly, Papuan People's Representative Council, FORKOMPIDA, all regional apparatus within the Provincial Government, Regency/City Government Representatives, vertical agencies.

This includes Papuan Indigenous Peoples Institutions/Papuan Indigenous Councils, Representatives of Religious Institutions, TNI/Polri, Universities, Papuan Development Partners: NGOs/CSOs, Professional Organizations, as well as private elements, both in person and online.

"The purpose of implementing this KP-3 is to clarify the data and information that has been collected, as well as solicit input related to the draft green spatial planning concept that is in line with the Papua 2100 Vision," said Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, Elsye Rumbekwan, in a statement. his remarks, Thursday (24/3).

Because, according to him, Papua has unique characteristics. Where the majority of people live in forest and marine areas as places of economic activity.

"The cultural approach needs to be considered as a follow-up to the spatial planning of the Papua Province in the future, which can go hand in hand with national needs without ignoring the needs of the Papuan people," he explained, quoted by the RMOL Papua News Agency.

Meanwhile, the Director of Regional Spatial Planning for Region II of the Ministry of ATR/BPN gave high appreciation to the Papua Provincial Government, which in the preparation of the spatial plan has accommodated customary areas.

The Ministry of ATR is ready to synergize in the series of processes for the preparation of the revised RTRW of the Papua Province.

The participatory process by presenting all elements in the public consultation, will generate self-value to move forward so that it is integrated and synchronized between areas of interest.

So it is hoped that the process of revising the RTRW of Papua Province can run well and according to the target time.

It is hoped that the revision of the Papua RTRW can be determined a maximum of 3 months from now, so that districts/cities can immediately adjust. Therefore, the preparation of the revised RTRW requires commitment and cooperation between stakeholders.
 
This form of commitment must also be accompanied by budget allocations until the discussion of the draft regional regulation on RTRW this year.
