Statement of Attitudes of Indigenous Peoples in Nabire to Support Expansion
The Saireri Dua Nabire indigenous community held a peace declaration event in the village of Waharia Nabire on Saturday, March 12, 2022, a declaration activity in order to support the new autonomous region and also the expansion of the province of Central Papua.
The declaration of peace in support of the new autonomous region and the expansion of the Papua province is being attended by traditional chiefs of tribal chiefs as well as youth leaders, women's leaders and the Saireri Dua indigenous community.
The peace declaration was held aimed at supporting the government's program as well as expressing the attitude that the Saireri Dua customary territory was involved in resolving the problems in Papua towards a peaceful Papua and also expressed its position through reading the text of the Papuan peace declaration in the Saireri Dua customary territory.
Albert kabiai as the leader of the Sareri traditional youth said the declaration of peace this time was carried out with the aim of embracing all youth and participating in reconciling Papua and hoping that our brothers and sisters as native Papuans who are still fighting for Papua will no longer do things that take lives and more bloodshed in Papua.
Kabiai also added that the special autonomy fund that will run later can involve traditional leaders so that the funds can reach customary areas in Papua and he also requests that the special autonomy fund which will be rolled out can be directly reached by people throughout the land of Papua. so that it will no longer be a problem in Papua's development in the future.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Nabire adat deliberative body, Melkizedek.F. Rumawi, said that the Saireri indigenous people strongly support the new autonomous region implemented by the central government and he and the residents hope that the expansion of the Central Papua province can be implemented as soon as possible.
