Mimika Health Office disburses Rp. 66 billion to build Banti Hospital

The Mimika Regency Health Office (Dinkes) has allocated a budget of IDR 66 billion to build a hospital in Banti Village, Tembagapura District.

Head of the Mimika Health Service, Reynold Ubra in Timika, Saturday, said the funds came from the 2022 Special Allocation Fund (DAK) with details of Rp45 billion for the construction of a hospital building and the rest for the procurement of supporting facilities.

"It is now in the auction stage. It is hoped that by the end of the year the construction of this hospital will be completed and ready for use," he said.

In the future, after the hospital operates, he said, the community around Kampung Banti will no longer need to be referred to the Timika Hospital because all medical personnel, including doctors, will be placed in the hospital.

In addition, starting this year, the Mimika Health Office will focus on providing health services to people who live in mountainous areas in the Tembagapura, Hoeya, Jila, and Alama Districts.

To support this, the Mimika Health Office provided a budget of Rp. 4 billion to mobilize health workers by airplane to puskesmas in mountainous areas.

For the past two years, the Mimika Health Office has opened a Health Service Post in Banti 1 Village.

The Health Service Post, which uses the house of one of the residents, routinely provides health services to residents who live in Banti 1, Banti 2, Opitawak, and Kimbeli villages.

"We have operated a service post in Banti for two years. The health workers there are quite complete, there are doctors, nurses, midwives, analysts, and even mobile health workers," he said.

Several years ago, there was a Type D hospital built by PT Freeport Indonesia and managed by the Amungme and Kamoro Community Development Institute (LPMAK), which has now changed its name to YPMAK.

However, the two-story hospital building adjacent to the Banti Elementary School building was burned to the ground by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in March 2018, when they were about to occupy a village close to Tembagapura City, the mining center of PT Freeport Indonesia.

The Chief of the Tembagapura Police, AKP Ahmad Dahlan, made sure that security in the area was getting more conducive.

He invited all stakeholders to jointly create a conducive security and security situation in the region.
