Police Shoot Protesters for Burning Ruko in Papua

KAPOLDA Papua Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri admitted that members of the Yahukimo Police, Tuesday (15/3), were forced to take firm action against the demonstrators. This is because they carried out anarchistic actions by burning shop houses near the Kominfo office in Dekai.
 
As a result there were a number of people who became victims, including two people who died, two people suffered gunshot wounds, and a policeman was injured. "Two residents were reported dead, namely Yakob Dell, 30, and Erson Weibsa, 20. Two people with gunshot wounds, Itos Itlay and Lucky Kobak, and a member of the Yahukimo Police, were reported injured, namely Brigadier Muhammad Aldi," said Fakhiri in Jayapura, Tuesday.
 
Admittedly, from reports received, the demonstration against the expansion took place at around 10:00 WIT and was centered in the yard of the Yahukimo Regency Kominfo office in Dekai. The demonstration was initially safe. But suddenly the demonstrators took action to destroy and burn shop houses in the vicinity of the Yahukimo Kominfo office so that the members took firm action.

"Security officers must take firm action to save other people, including those in shophouses that were burned. Moreover, the arson acts carried out were spread in several locations," said Fakhiri, admitting that he could not confirm whether the KNPB was involved in the action or not, although it was reported that many of them were involved. demonstrators wearing KNPB uniforms.
 
It is suspected that there were provocateurs that caused the demonstrators to carry out anarchic actions. But the mastermind is still being investigated.

Fakhiri admitted, to ensure that the steps taken by members of the Yahukimo Police were in accordance with the procedure or not, Wednesday (16/3) the Head of the Propam Division of the Papua Police was scheduled to visit Dekai. "If later it turns out that it is not according to the procedure, action will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations," he said. In addition to the Head of Propam, according to the Kapolda Inspector General Fakhiri, his party will also send a number of Papuan Police officials to Dekai, Yahukimo Regency.
