The Regency Government Appoints Six Distributors to Fulfill Jayawijaya Cooking Oil

The Jayawijaya Regency Government, Papua Province, has appointed six cooking oil distributors to meet the needs of the people in the region.

Head of the Jayawijaya Manpower, Industry and Trade Agency Lukas Kossaydi Wamena, Saturday (12/3/2022), said the names of the six distributors were proposed to the provincial government and the ministry.

Lukas explained that the procurement of cooking oil to Wamena must go through a distributor appointed by the government and six distributors whose names have been sent to the province. "It has not been decided and has not been conveyed to us," he said.

The government believes that with a designated supplier, supervision of cooking oil in mountainous areas will be easily monitored to prevent hoarding or illegal trade. "We have to appoint a distributor so that he can bring in cooking oil so that it can be distributed to small traders and the supervision can be carried out properly and in the near future we will do it," said Lukas.

He said that although there has not been a shortage of cooking oil in Jayawijaya, his party hopes that the regulations from the provincial government regarding suppliers can be immediately passed down to the districts. Jayawijaya also does not know whether the transportation of cooking oil from Jayapura-Jayawijaya is subsidized by the government or not.

"This is a problem faced in Wamena and will also have an impact on Lapago, so we are waiting for this regulation, maybe if there is a regulation on President Jokowi's Nawacita for sea, air and land toll roads, it may be immediately raised to Wamena," he said.
