Supporting Waste Management in Nabire, P3E Papua Conducts Monev on Jakstrada Documents

The Papua Ecoregion Development Control Center (P3E Papua) carries out Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) activities, the Development of the Jakstrada Document Preparation.

The document, related to waste management and the integration of waste management data, is in SIPSN Nabire Regency on March 29, 2022.

The head of P3E Papua, Edward Sembiring to Tribun-Papua.com, Sunday (3/4/2022), expressed his appreciation to the Nabire Regency Government for completing the Jakstrada Document in March 2022.

"Of course, after intensive assistance from P3E Papua is carried out, it is hoped that this document can be a reference, in waste management towards a clean, healthy and sustainable Nabire," he concluded.

On the other hand, representing the Regent of Nabire, Isaias Zonggonau, in his written remarks, said that the local government of Nabire has collaborated with various parties in waste management efforts.

"The most difficult thing we face is the low level of public awareness of waste," said Isaias.

For this reason, waste management efforts must start at the basic level, from home and school.

He also said that this activity was a follow-up to the implementation of technical development activities for calculating the Water and Solid Waste Quality Index in the Projection Planning of the Environmental Quality Index (IKLH) of Nabire Regency.

Then, assistance was carried out on the Action Plan for Handling Household Waste and Types of Household Waste, which was carried out in 2021.

On that occasion, P3E Papua together with the Papua Provincial Forestry and Environment Service, as well as the Nabire District Environmental Service also carried out Technical Guidance on the Preparation of the Adiwiyata Document.

The aim is to encourage or facilitate schools, both at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels, to become Adiwiyata Schools through the Movement for Caring for the Culture of the Environment in Schools (PBLHS).

The PBLHS movement aims to open up the thinking horizons of the younger generation, both students and students, to be able to take responsibility for any actions that can put pressure on the surrounding environment.

"Schools as educational centers can play an active role in efforts to preserve the environment, so that they can support sustainable development," explained Edward.

With this, it is hoped that his party can provide positive momentum to strengthen the position of the waste management sector.

Especially as a driver of economic growth, with the principles of sustainable waste management, namely waste to resource and circular economy.
