The Minister of Communication and Informatics invites the Papuan people to participate in the digital literacy program




The Minister of Communications and Information, Johnny G Plate, encouraged the Papuan people, from the younger generation, MSME players, to "mama-mamas" to take part in the digital literacy program.

"Invite students, the younger generation, to take part in the Kominfo digital literacy program, at least for the basic level for mama mama for brothers and sisters, all there are MSMEs too," said Minister Johnny from Jakarta, Thursday.

Through this program, Johnny hopes that the Papuan people can be proficient in the digital world. As for business actors, the program can be used to increase economic value.

"So ladies and gentlemen, all of you who are participating in MSMEs or household economic activities are participating in the digital literacy program so that they can be met with the marketplace through digital platforms," said Minister Johnny.

In addition, he also asked regional officials in Papua, ranging from heads of offices, work units, regional leaders, to members of the Papuan DPR to take part in the Digital Leadership Academy program.

"This is an opportunity for the heads of district heads, satkers, or even the regents and deputy regents, mayors and deputy mayors, Forkopimda, members of the DPR, DPRD to take part so that later we can produce policy making policies in the regions," he said. Johnny.

Kominfo conducts a comprehensive digital literacy program from basic to advanced levels to address the digital skills gap.

The improvement of basic level digital skills is carried out through the National Cyber-Creative Digital Literacy Movement program. Last year, the movement reached more than 12.3 million participants nationwide.

At the intermediate level, Kominfo has a Digital Talent Scholarship program, which provides various training themes such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital marketing.

Last year, the program reached 133,000 participants. The Ministry plans to increase the number of participants every year so that by 2024 the Digital Talent Scholarship can graduate 700,000 digital talents.

For advanced digital skills, Kominfo targets policy makers in both the government and private sectors in the Digital Leadership Academy program.

This program is open to 550 participants this year, the training curriculum involves foreign universities including Oxford University, Tsinghua University and Imperial College London.
