One Papuan KKB member dies after being caught with a gun, police reveal list of crimes

LM, who was a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Lekagak Telenggen, died after he was caught trying to shoot security forces in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Papua.

The KKB member led by Lekagak Telenggen was known to have disguised himself and mingled with residents during a stone burning event, Friday (27/5/2022).

LM mingled with the people who were present in the traditional procession to carry out an attack on the security forces.

However, the plan failed after the sound of the cocking of the short-barreled gun he was carrying was heard by the targeted officers.

The officer dodged screaming and made LM run away.

Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri confirmed the incident.

"So he was among the people who were burning stones, the target was the security forces. When they cocked their weapons, the officers heard their voices that were about to be shot," said Fakhiri in Jayapura, Saturday (28/5/2022) night.

The officers then chased after LM.

Fahkiri said that during the process of arresting LM, there was a gun battle.

LM is known to have died after being involved in a shootout with security forces.

"It is true that LM died and his body was burned by his group," said Fakiri in Jayapura, Monday (30/5/2022).

According to Fakiri, LM is part of a small group of many groups under the leadership of Lekagak Telenggen.

Meanwhile, the direct leader of LM is Titus Murib.

Regarding LM's status, Fakiri emphasized that the police believe that he is a KKB with several lists of crimes.

LM crime list

At least LM was involved in five crimes, all of which occurred in Puncak Regency.

Here are the details:

1. On April 8, 2021, involved in the burning of three schools namely SD, SMP and SMA in the Julukoma Village area, Beoga District, Puncak Regency.

2. On June 4, 2021, he was involved in a heinous murder in Niporolome Village, Puncak Regency, which resulted in 5 MD residents including the Head of Niporolome Village Patianus Kogoya, Petena Murib (female), and Nelius Kogoya.

3. On January 27, 2022, he was involved in a shootout with members of the TNI Battalion R 408/SBH in Gome District, Puncak Regency, which resulted in the death of 3 TNI MD members namely Pratu Rahman, Serda Rizal, and Private Baraza.

4. On March 1, 2022, involved in the massacre of employees and civilians who were in the Palapa Timur Telematika (PTT) camp, Beoga District, Puncak Regency, which resulted in the death of eight civilians.

5. On April 22, 2022, involved in the burning of the Office and Company assets of PT. Martha Tunggal Teknik (MTT) which is located in Kago Village, Ilaga District, Puncak Regency

Responding to this incident, Fakhiri asked all personnel in Puncak Regency to be vigilant because KKB always took countermeasures when any of its members were caught or shot.

"The public must also be reminded not to move in places that are not monitored by the authorities," said Fakhiri.
