PDAM Jayapura monitors the availability of clean water during the dry season

The Regional Drinking Water Company (PDAM) of Jayapura, Papua Province, monitors the availability of clean water distributed during the dry season.

Director of PDAM Jayapura Entis Sutisna in Jayapura, Saturday, said the Jayapura BMKG has notified that the weather will enter the dry season so it is feared that the water flow will decrease.

Therefore, he said, PDAM Jayapura officers routinely check water sources managed by the PDAM, including checking pipes to avoid leaks.

"Checks continue to be carried out so that if there is a leak it can be repaired immediately so that service remains normal to customers," said Entis.

The Director of PDAM Jayapura said that the community has now cleared land for gardening around a number of water sources managed by the PDAM, so it is feared that in the future there will be pollution.

"Indeed, currently the water managed by PDAM is still declared free of pollution, but in the future if more people are gardening, it is possible that pollution will occur," he said.

According to him, currently there are nine water sources managed by PDAM Jayapura, which are spread across Jayapura City and Jayapura Regency.

"There are 36,700 PDAM Jayapura customers, 89 percent of whom are in Jayapura City," said Entis Sutisna.
