The UN visits the Papua Provincial Government to discuss the continuation of the cooperation program
Representatives of the United Nations (UN) in Indonesia made a working visit to the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua to discuss opportunities for cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals in Cenderawasih Earth.
The Head of the United Nations Representative in Indonesia, Valerie Juliand in Jayapura, Tuesday, said that many UN programs that have been running in Papua so far need to be reviewed and discussed together.
"We want to discuss the programs that are already running, as well as discuss opportunities for cooperation with the provincial government in an effort to achieve sustainable development goals," he said.
According to Valerie, apart from visiting the Papua Provincial Government, her party held a meeting with UN staff working in Papua.
"This visit is also part of his role as the Head of the United Nations Representative in Indonesia or the Resident Coordinator for Indonesia appointed by the United Nations office," he said.
Meanwhile, Assistant for the Government of the Papua Province, Doren Wakerkwa, said that his party appreciated the arrival of the UN Representative to Papua and discussed various existing UN programs.
"At the meeting we also conveyed the current conditions in Papua, the situation of the COVID-19 case and regarding the implementation of Special Autonomy which is going very well," he said.
At the meeting, his party conveyed that the implementation of the Papuan government in each Regional Work Unit (SKPD) was running as it should and optimally.
"Everything is going very extraordinary, where the TNI-POLRI have worked in controlling the situation to remain conducive," he said.
