3 Capitals of New Papua Province Defined: Merauke, Nabire and Jayawijaya

Commission II of the DPR and the government have agreed on three bills on the formation of a province in Papua in a level I decision. The bill will then be brought to a plenary session on June 30, 2022 for ratification.

The 3 bills are the South Papua Province Bill, the Central Papua Province Bill, and the Mountains Province Bill.
 
All factions agreed that the three bills were brought to a plenary meeting. However, Democrats and PKS agreed with the record.

"We come to the next agenda, namely we enter the decision-making session on the three bills for the formation of the province of South Papua, the formation of the province of Central Papua and the Province of the Mountains. I want to ask all of us, do we agree with these three bills?" said the Chairman of Commission II, Doli Kurnia, and was answered in agreement by the meeting participants.
 
"Thank you, at the same time, we indicate that we agree to be conveyed and we will continue to the second level discussion at the nearest plenary meeting for decision making," continued Doli.

The decision was taken at a working meeting of the government and Commission II of the DPR as well as representatives of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (28/6). The government parties who attended were Deputy Minister of Home Affairs John Wempi Wetipo, Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward OS Hiariej, and Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
 
The following are the expansion areas for the three new autonomous regions (DOB) of Papua:

1. South Papua Province, the capital city in Merauke

h. Nduga Regency
