Regarding DOB, Rev. Maury: MRP must be neutral

religious leaders Pdt. Alexander Maury requested that the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP) be neutral in addressing the pros and cons of the community regarding the establishment of the New Autonomous Region (DOB).

"As a cultural institution for Papuans, the MRP should be neutral, at this time to accept aspirations related to votes in support and rejecting the new autonomous regions, instead of leading opinions," he said when contacted, Saturday (4/6/2022) evening.

He suspects that currently the MRP has been established for the interests of certain groups.

"The MRP must look at the interests of Papua as a whole, not infiltrate the interests of certain groups, such as DOB only pro for those who reject it, while those who support it are ignored," he stressed.

Rev. Maury added that the pros and cons of a policy are commonplace, but no one should force their will to oppose one another's will.

"Whatever the assessment is whether it rejects or accepts, it must be absorbed wisely without any interest, so there will be no problems between the various parties," he explained.

According to Pdt. Maury, whatever the central government's policies, including DOB and Otsus, the goal is good for the land of Papua.

"The point is that at this time we are walking in God's plan and will, there must be the best, we as a society must initiate and provide an assessment, so that there are desired changes," he said.
