Vice President Ma'ruf Amin appreciates LMA in Papua for protecting the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia
Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received the Indigenous Peoples Institution (LMA) of Tanah Papua virtually at the Vice President's Official Residence, Jalan Diponegoro, Jakarta, Tuesday.
On the occasion, the Vice President appreciated the LMA Tanah Papua which helped maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
"My appreciation goes to traditional leaders, religious leaders, community leaders, and all parties who are members of the Papua Province Indigenous Peoples Institution who have helped maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said the Vice President in a press release in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The head of the LMA Papua Province, Lenis Kogoya, explained the results of the decisions of the LMA Deliberations throughout the Land of Papua as the aspirations of traditional leaders, intellectual leaders, and women's leaders in Papua for the acceleration of welfare development in the Land of Papua.
According to Lenis, the Papua Province Indigenous Peoples Institution is loyal to support the President and Vice President. With the result of the decision, his party asked for a direct audience with the President and Vice President.
He also mentioned the plan for the Declaration of Peaceful Papua entitled "Knitting Unity Overcoming Differences Building a Peaceful Papua Pursuing Customary-Based Prosperity" which will be held in conjunction with a ceremony to commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila, June 1, 2022, in Wamena, Jayawijaya, Papua.
The Vice President expressed his willingness to give a speech at the LMA Deliberations throughout the Land of Papua virtually through recordings, which will be shown to all LMA Conference participants at the Wamena Education Field, Jawawiyaya Regency on June 1, 2022.
The Vice President also emphasized the government's strong commitment to the welfare of the Land of Papua through various affirmative policy regulations, such as increasing special autonomy funds, expanding the new autonomous regions (DOB) for Papua, as well as giving sides to OAP (indigenous Papuans) to become members of the DPRP/DPRK without going through elections. public with a quota of 25 percent.
The vice president added that the DOB is intended to make services to the community in each region closer, easier, and simpler as well as to boost the economy.
The vice president emphasized that the government really wants to pass on peace to future generations.
The vice president asked for the support of LMA Tanah Papua to continue to convince the Papuan people of the government's commitment.
