OAP students should not be easily provoked by the PRP movement

Regarding the planned demonstration by student groups and others who are members of the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) on Friday (29/7) tomorrow throughout Indonesia, especially Jayapura City in the rejection of DOB and Otsus Volume II.

The Acting Mayor of Jayapura, Dr. Frans Pekey, M.Sc., asked students studying in Jayapura City who came from other regions/regencies in Papua to focus on completing their studies to completion and obtaining degrees.

"Students shouldn't be easily provoked about the demonstration, whether it's related to the rejection of DOB, Otsus Volume II and others. Because this is final and approved by the DPR, the task that must be done is to guard it properly.” said Frank Pekey.

According to him, students should study well in order to graduate from college. Then they can work and build their own area. Because of that, college must be on target and the time should not be delayed or dropped out, because of the influence of bad friends.


“We must have competence, skill, insight and mindset that is advanced and developed in developing our region. If we don't finish studying, when will we be able to build our area in Papua, and don't blame it if someone else can build our area, because of our laziness and stupidity. Because we as hosts must set an example to others properly and correctly, "he said Tuesday (26/7).

Frans Pekey, also reminded that the competition in the world of work is getting tougher. Whoever has the competence, skills, insight, discipline, can work, wants to work, then he will be quickly accepted into work because the company is looking for it like this. Therefore, younger students should not be easily provoked by other students who are not true, especially if they live in the same dormitory, they are easily influenced.

"Let's finish college well until it's finished, then we can go back and build the region to the maximum and help local governments to build superior and quality human resources, we can prove that OAP can also be an example in developing the region," he said.
