Papua Land of Heaven Will Be More Prosperous Thanks to the New Autonomous Region (DOB)

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) acknowledged that Papua is a piece of heaven that fell to earth. Through his personal Instagram account, President Jokowi revealed "Land of Papua, Little Heaven Falls to Earth,"

This expression is not without reason, this is in accordance with the facts and social and geographical conditions in the earth of Cendrawasih, this is also described in a verse of the song "Tanah Papua" by the median Fransky Shailatua.

This little paradise must remain sustainable, do not give space to groups that like to divide unity, there must be a definite and real movement so that our beloved Papua will forever continue to have peace and prosperity for its people.

The central government under President Jokowi's regime has always provided more space for the Papuan people through its pro-Papua policies. For example, through Special Autonomy and the Establishment of New Autonomous Regions (DOB) in Papua and West Papua. This will be a good momentum for progress and prosperity for this easternmost community in Indonesia.


DOB is a positive policy for both the indigenous Papuans and the general public. The government presents new autonomous regions for the welfare of the Papuan people which must be supported by all parties.

The welcome, from members of the DPRD, the Regent, to Papuan Community Leaders and other stake holders support the expansion of new autonomous regions towards a peaceful, prosperous, dignified, and masterful Papua in their own country. This is so cool! Papuan people are united to face a brighter future.

As previously reported by kompas.com, a number of figures who signed the agreement were Regent Maybrat Bernard Sagrim, Regent of Teluk Wondama Hendrik Syake Mambor, Regent of Manokwari Hermus Indou, Regent of Kaimana Freedy Thie, Deputy Regent of South Sorong Wempi Wely Rengkung, community leader Ayamaru Marthen Nauw, local leader Religion of Rev. Zadrak Simbiak, as well as a number of other figures.


What should be a concern is that the new autonomous regions and Papua's Special Autonomy must be carried out in accordance with the mandate of the constitution number 2 of 2021 concerning Otsus for Papua and West Papua to accelerate the development of the welfare of the indigenous Papuans (OAP) within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

Finally, as a closing of this paper, the author would like to convey that Otsus and DOB are green lights that will be able to change OAP from dark to light. Therefore, in the author's opinion, there is no reason to reject this policy.
