Reject and Boycott the PRP and the Forbidden Organizations in Nabire, Residents Take to Jalan Degree Convoys
Masses belonging to various organizations, communities, associations, and indigenous peoples in Nabire Regency, Papua Province, held convoys on the streets and shouted refusals and strong condemnations of the Papuan People's Petition (PRP), as well as other banned organizations in Nabire.
To Tribun-Papua.com Sunday (17/7/2022), Chairman of the Indigenous Youth of the Saireri II Nabire Region, Ali Kabiay said the convoy was intended to carry a mission to reject the PRP and all its activities. “The people of Nabire think that the PRP has created unrest by bringing up actions that are detrimental to the community. Therefore, we reject, boycott and strongly condemn all of his activities," he said.
He also explained that there were two demands from the masses during the convoy, namely to reject all forms of PRP activities that disturbed the comfort of the people of Nabire. Then, secondly, the PRP was not allowed to take action in Nabire because the people of Nabire had accepted the New Autonomous Region (DOB). "So we carried out this convoy around Nabire City, until we returned to the BMAPP and PAS2N Secretariat on Wolter Monginsidi Street," said Ali.
On the other hand, the Chairperson of the Papua Province Customary Consultative Body (BMAPP), Melkysedek Rumawi expressed his rejection of the PRP, along with all its activities in Nabire. "We reject all forms of organization, especially the Papuan People's Petition (PRP) organization on behalf of all Papuan people, this is not true," he said.
Melkysedek said that the PRP's actions have always harmed the people in Nabire Regency, even though the area known as the Orange City is a peaceful zone. "Nabire is a home for all of us and a home for all indigenous peoples of the archipelago, so we must together reject the PRP in Nabire, and always maintain unity and integrity within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he explained. After completing the Convoy Activities in Nabire City, the convoy participants returned to the BMAPP and PAS2N Secretariat, to carry out the traditional stone-burning procession using pork and chicken.
On that occasion, the controller of the Dani Tribe in Nabire, Kumis Jingga expressed his gratitude, because the convoy voicing the aspiration to reject the PRP could proceed smoothly. "Everything we grilled today was a success, because the vegetables we roasted and the meat was all cooked, it was a sign that today's activity was a success," he said. Furthermore, he said the event was like his party's procession at the time of going to war, where before the war had to do a stone-burning procession and when all the vegetables and meat were cooked.
"Of course we will win in the war, so the day we successfully carry out this parade, we also hope that the situation in Nabire remains safe and conducive," he continued. Also participating were the Papua Province Indigenous Consultative Body (BMAPP), the Indigenous Youth of the Saireri II Nabire Region (PAS2N), the Dani Indigenous Community, the Mee Indigenous Community, and the Mamberamo Raya Indigenous Community. Up to the Moni Indigenous Peoples, the Biak Indigenous Peoples, the Sulawesi Indigenous Peoples, the Javanese Indigenous Peoples, the Serui Family Association, and other sympathizers.
