Police arrest village head supplying ammunition for armed groups

Police arrested one of three village heads suspected of supplying funds to buy ammunition for armed groups in Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Papua Regional Police, Police Commissioner Faizal Rahmadani, in Jayapura, Monday, admitted that only one of the village heads suspected of funding the purchase of 615 bullets was arrested in Yalimo, last June 30.

TL, who is the head of Wusi Village, Wusi District, Nduga Regency, was arrested on Thursday (4/8), in Kenyam, and from the investigation he admitted to giving Rp. 150 million.

"Indeed, only one village head was arrested while the other two have been identified, including the village secretary who asked the village head for money on the grounds of helping students," said Rahmadani.

TL's arrest was made after investigators investigated the origin of the funds used by AM, an ASN from Nduga Regency who was arrested in Yalimo with 615 bullets. "It is suspected that the money used came from village funds or village funds," he said.

The case of 615 bullets of various calibers which were secured before being received by the armed group led by Egianus Kogoya was allegedly purchased from unscrupulous members of the Indonesian Army for Rp. 200,000 per item. Currently, two members of the Indonesian Army are detained for allegedly being involved in the sale of 615 bullets.
