The Papuan Provincial Government Continues to Encourage District and City Efforts to Accelerate El KTP Recording
The Papua provincial government continues to encourage regencies and cities in Bumi Cenderawasih to speed up the recording of Electronic Identity Cards (KTP El), as the 2024 General Election is getting closer.
This was stated by the Head of the Papua Province Population and Civil Registry Social Service, Ribka Haluk. He hoped that regional heads, both regents and mayors, would immediately order the heads of their respective regional Disdukcapil.
He further said that this was done because this year there was no financial support from the central government, so the provincial government could not do anything.
The recording of ID cards must continue to be carried out and his party continues to build communication with the Papua KPU because the 2024 elections are required to use electronic ID cards.
"There is no more bargaining, we still have two years left so we can still catch up. We in the population institutions of 29 districts and cities are very ready," he said.
Ribka explained, around 9 districts in Papua are safe. This means that it has reached 99 percent, such as Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke Regency, Biak Regency, while Timika Regency is still around 70 percent.
Meanwhile, eight districts are still pursuing the target. The remaining Paniai Regency, Yahukimo Regency, Bintang Mountain Regency, and Intan Jaya Regency, these are conflict areas including Nduga Regency, are still below 10 percent and must be accelerated.
He added that he had held a meeting with the DPR and KPU so that together they could synergistically encourage the acceleration of the recording of ID cards in Papua.
"If we can't, we will pick up the ball to the community. The point is that the office is open as usual, the service is still running, whoever needs it, please come," he said.
