Wamendagri: PJ Governors in Three New Provinces of Papua Will Be Appointed No later than the end of October



The Acting Governor for the province in the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua will be appointed no later than the end of October 2022.

This was conveyed by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) John Wempi Wetipo during a special interview session with the Director of Tribun Network News, Febby Mahendra Putra at the Tribune Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (23/8/2022).

"The schedule is no later than the end of October this year," said John Wempi Wetipo. The Acting Governors are projected to compile APBD expenditures in 2023.

In addition, the Acting Governors will make preparations for the process of infrastructure development and administration. John Wempi Wetipo said at the time of the ratification of the law by the DPR on June 30, 2022, the Government had met with the regents to prepare the government for a transition period.

"For the past two years, we have prepared before there is a definitive gubernatorial election based on the results of the 2024 election," he said.

Previously, the DPR had passed three draft laws (RUU) related to the new province of Papua or the Papua New Guinea on Thursday (30/6/2022). The ratification of the 3 new Papua Province laws was carried out at the DPR Plenary Meeting at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

The laws that were passed were the Law on the Province of South Papua, the Law on the Province of Central Papua, and the Law on the Province of Mountains.
