Adjustment of Momentum Fuel Prices Divert APBN and Maximize EBT

The adjustment of subsidized fuel prices that will be carried out by the Government is the best momentum to be able to divert the APBN and maximize the use of New Renewable Energy (EBT).

Currently, the Government is focusing on being able to make maximum use of the use of EBT.

Therefore, the efficiency of the APBN must really be carried out as well as possible.

One of them is by adjusting the price of fuel and focusing only on people who need it.

The reason is, Observer of Strategic Issues, Prof. Imron Cotan stated that so far there have been around 20 percent of the state budget that has been locked for the provision of unhealthy subsidies because they are not well targeted.

"Approximately 20% of our APBN is locked for subsidies, and that is not healthy because what has been happening so far has not been on target," he said.

Therefore, subsidies must be sharpened immediately so that the state budget is not pressured, which he added that if this is not done immediately, the budget adequacy will run out in September.

“This is a sharpening of the use of subsidies so that our APBN is not pressured, of which there is now Rp 502 trillion, which has been set aside and this September will be exhausted. If it continues in September, we have to add another Rp 198 trillion," said Prof Imron on Saturday (3/9) in a dialogue on television stations.

Not only that, in fact the use of fossil-based oil on the other hand also has many bad effects.

The man who once served as the Indonesian Ambassador added that the world oil price chart itself has continued to increase since the last 50 years.

On the other hand, the existence of fossil-based energy is very limited if it is continuously exploited and is capable of producing toxic carbon dioxide.

He explained that the Government of Indonesia had a target to be able to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent to create a healthier environment.

Meanwhile, this will be difficult to achieve if the state budget continues to be locked only to provide fuel subsidies.

"Therefore, this strategic momentum must be used to divert or at least mix it with renewable energy, towards totally using new and renewable energy," said Prof Imron.

According to him, Indonesia itself has the potential for abundant use of renewable energy so that it is time for the efficiency of the state budget to be carried out by imposing fuel price adjustments.

"Indonesia can do it, because electricity, water is available, solar is abundant throughout the year, we take advantage of this momentum to prepare human resources as well. Our natural gas is also practically abundant. But so far it has not been used because it has been lulled by subsidies,” he explained.

Prof Imron Cotan also admitted that efforts to adjust subsidized fuel prices were carried out in order to bring justice to the community.

So it is fitting for the people to appreciate the policy and fully support it.

"So let's show the unity and unity of the nation because the aim of the government is to bring justice in the midst of society, subsidies are no longer just for commodities, but for people in need. So we should appreciate it rather than have to fight the policy," he concluded.
