Kominfo Invites Papuans to Fight Hoaxes on Social Media
The Ministry of Communication and Information invites the people of Papua to fight false information or hoaxes that are a real threat in the midst of the development of information technology on Cenderawasih Earth. The Coordinator of Information and Communication on Law and Human Rights, Kominfo, Filmon Leonard Warouw, said that the hoaxes spread could provide misleading information and could lead to national disintegration. "Therefore, the government invites the public to fight hoaxes," Filmon said as quoted by Antara, Thursday (1/9/2022).
According to Filmon, the spread of hoaxes currently seems to have a toll road along with the rapid development of information technology. This is because people are increasingly connected to the virtual world. "Thus the existence of hoaxes becomes a serious threat in addition to cyber security, personal data, and negative content," he said.
He explained that the government needs the participation of the community and the community to jointly fight hoaxes. "The government through the Ministry of Communication and Information has never stopped fighting hoaxes, where the government has handled 1.6 million content that violates regulations on various sites," added Filmon.
Meanwhile, the Head of Information and Public Communication of the Jayapura Information and Encryption Communication Service, Sri Wijayanti said, the people of Jayapura, Papua have a high level of awareness in sorting information from social media.
