Biak allocates direct cash assistance due to fuel price hike of IDR 3.5 billion



The Biak Numfor Regency Government, Papua, has allocated two percent of general transfer funds or Rp. 3.5 billion for direct cash assistance for people affected by the increase in fuel prices.

"This fund comes from the transfer of general allocation funds and profit sharing. In accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 134/PMK.07/2022 concerning Mandatory Expenditures in the Context of Handling Inflation Impacts for the 2022 Fiscal Year," said Acting Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) ) in Biak, Wednesday, after the Forkompinda coordination meeting.

he said local governments could use two percent of general transfer funds for social assistance, job creation, or transportation subsidies.

For Biak, according to him, direct cash assistance due to the increase in fuel prices will be given to fishing communities, angkot drivers, and motorcycle taxi drivers.

Meanwhile for the agricultural sector, continued Gunadi, Biak will provide fertilizer assistance to plant seeds.

"The distribution of direct cash assistance will be carried out technically by each regional work unit," he said.

He said the timing of the distribution of direct cash assistance due to the increase in fuel prices would be carried out as soon as possible depending on the readiness of regional apparatus organizations.

"Yes, if all data has been submitted validly, we will immediately realize the distribution of direct cash assistance to residents affected by the increase in fuel prices," Gunadi said.
