KPK Alleges 'Save Lukas Enembe' Demo in Papua Was Conditioned

The KPK alluded to the 'Save Lukas Enembe' demonstration conducted by Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe's sympathizers today in Jayapura, Papua. The KPK said the demonstration was conditioned by Lukas Enembe.
The Deputy for Enforcement at the KPK, Karyoto, said the mass movement leading to Jayapura looked like a forced effort. Nevertheless, Karyoto still said that the demonstration was a citizen's freedom to express their opinion.

"The problem with this demonstration is that the freedom of citizens to express opinions is protected by law. We just see that this is a demonstration attempted by the suspect Lukas Enembe," Karyoto said at a press conference at the KPK Building, Jalan Kuningan Persada, Tuesday ( 20/9/2022).
 
Nevertheless, Karyoto admitted that coordination with various law enforcement parties related to the situation in Papua was considered important. This is because the current situation in Papua is said to be different from usual.

"However, because we respect the process in principle, we also appealed yesterday. Why, for example, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs gathers law enforcers related to Papua, it is deemed necessary, the situation there is a bit different from usual," said Karyoto.
 
Previously reported, sympathizers of the Governor of Papua Lukas Enembe from a number of areas forced themselves into Jayapura City. They came to express support for Lukas Enembe, who is currently a KPK suspect.

Reported by detikSulsel, Tuesday (20/9), the masses who support Luke Enembe came using private cars, trucks, motorbikes, even on foot. They tried to enter Jayapura City since 08.49 WIT.

The officers had blocked the mass gathering point to prevent the crowd from accumulating. As a result, a mass sympathizer of Lukas Enembe from Sentani was detained in Theys Square, a mass from Camp Wolker was detained in front of the Cenderawasih University (Uncen) campus.
