MAKI: KPK Must Forcibly Pick Up Lukas Enembe Like Setya Novanto!

The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) has asked the KPK to forcibly pick up Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe because he did not attend the summons for the examination on the grounds of illness. MAKI believes that the KPK must have the courage to pick up Lukas Enembe.
"You have to be forced to pick up and make arrests because the Criminal Procedure Code stipulates that method, if you are really sick then you just need to be sent to the hospital," said MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman to reporters, Tuesday (27/9/2022).

Boyamin said law enforcement must apply equally to everyone. Boyamin mentioned that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had attempted to forcefully pick up former DPR Speaker Setya Novanto in the e-KTP corruption case.

"The KPK must not be afraid, coordinate with the TNI and Polri. If the KPK is afraid, just disband it. That's right (the KPK does not need to wait for Luke), at least the KPK has brought a team of independent doctors from IDI to check LE's health," he said.

Lukas Enembe was scheduled to be examined on Monday (26/9), but he was not present due to illness. This is the second time that Lukas has been absent from the KPK summons.

"We reported last Friday at the KPK, it is impossible to attend sick," said Luke Enembe's attorney, Aloysius Renwarin, to reporters on Sunday (25/9).

The KPK said that the Papua Governor Lukas Enembe's medical team could not explain technical matters regarding Lukas Enembe's condition. This was revealed after representatives of Lukas Enembe provided medical documents to the KPK.

"Meanwhile, we did get the medical document data from the person concerned," said the Head of the KPK News Agency, Ali Fikri, to reporters on Monday (26/9).

"We also have a medical team. When we asked the medical team in question, it turned out that the person concerned couldn't answer what was needed. Small things, technical ones, apparently yesterday who came couldn't explain either." he continued.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, has also given a stern warning to all parties to support the investigation process of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reminded that no one should hinder the investigation of alleged corruption cases.

"Other parties are expected to help so that the examination process for taking LE's information (Lukas Enembe) can be carried out as soon as possible and do not try to prevent, hinder, or thwart the investigation process," Nawawi told reporters, Tuesday (27/9).
