Bank Indonesia-TPID West Papua launches inflation control movement
Bank Indonesia (BI) and the West Papua Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) will soon launch the National Food Inflation Controlling Movement (GNPIP) to control food inflation in the regions.
BI Deputy Representative for West Papua Eko Listiyono in Manokwari, Tuesday, said that the GNPIP program was initiated to optimize the role of the government and the community together in controlling inflation after the increase in fuel prices.
"In this program, apart from the government's role in supervising, the public also has a role to play in controlling inflation," said Eko.
The BI and West Papua TPID later, he said, would encourage the development of urban agricultural cultivation by planting chilies in their yards.
According to him, efforts to control inflation are not only carried out by Bank Indonesia and the government, but must also involve public participation.
Things that can be done by the community to reduce the rate of inflation include shopping wisely, energy saving movement by choosing environmentally friendly modes of transportation, and also planting family horticulture in the yard.
Eko said that shopping wise is in the form of good planning in shopping according to needs, by comparing prices to get the best price.
The GNPIP program is carried out to minimize the indirect impact of rising fuel prices, which are predicted to trigger price increases for several food commodities.
As is known, on Saturday (4/9) the government announced the fuel price adjustment.
Pertalite fuel experienced a price adjustment of 30.7 percent from IDR 7,650 per liter to IDR 10,000 per liter. Solar experienced a price adjustment of 32.04 percent from IDR 5,150 per liter to IDR 6,800 per liter, and Pertamax experienced a price adjustment of 16 percent from IDR 12,500 per liter to IDR 14,500 per liter.
