Supiori Education Office pioneered the Fun School Movement in Papua




The Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) of Supiori Regency, Papua, initiated the Fun School Movement (GSM) program to improve the quality of children's education in the region.

"The Fun School Movement (GSM) is a grassroots movement that promotes and builds awareness of teachers, principals, parents, and education policy makers to jointly improve the quality of education," said GSM founder Muhammad Nur Rizal after sharing his motivation with SD and SMP Supiori teachers. , Tuesday.

He said the GSM program is to build a school ecosystem as a fun place to learn science and life skills.

The GSM pilot, continued Nur Rizal, aims to make children adaptive, independent, agile, and fast learners to face the fast changing world.

"For the GSM program, Supiori Disdikbud is expected to be a pilot in the Papua region," he said.

One of the learning objectives of GSM, according to Nur Rizal, is to teach children's learning process to an international standard.

"GSM creates model schools that will expand the network of change in other schools in the vicinity," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Supiori District/District Teacher Working Group Micha Rumanasen M.Pd positively welcomed the GSM pilot program initiated by the Supiori District Education and Culture Office.

"As a teacher, I really support the GSM program, so we hope that similar activities will be carried out at the district level," he said.

Head of Supiori Disidkbud Rafles Ngilamele M.Si said, learning innovation is needed to improve the quality of children's education in Supiori Regency.

"Disdikbud Supiori continues to encourage the improvement of the quality of human resources by cooperating with the GSM community from Yogyakarta," he said.
