A total of 615 Papuan students received Kemendikbudristek Scholarships

A total of 615 students from the Yapis Wamena Scientific Amal University (UNAIM), Jayawijaya Regency, Papua received scholarship assistance from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The Chancellor of UNAIM Yapis Wamena, Rudi Hartono, said that the assistance encouraged an increase in the number of students there.
 
"The Smart Indonesia Program (PIP) scholarships in 2022 are 227 students. While the Single Tuition Scholarship (UKT) in 2021/2022 the number of students receiving as many as 388 people," he said in Wamena, Tuesday (4/10/2022).
 
Rudi Hartono said that every year the number of aid recipients increases, for example PIP assistance in 2021 will only be 193. This year it has increased to 227 recipients.

"Kemendikbudristek through LLDIKTI Region XIV also distributes UKT scholarships, where UNAIM Yapis Wamena in the 2020/2021 academic year the number of students who received as many as 177 people, but this year there has been a significant increase of 388 people," he said.

Thanks to the government's support, 44 recipient students have completed their studies and graduated this year. "Thanks to the government, through LLDIKTI for helping us so that students can finish their studies well," he said.

Rudi added, in the academic year 2022/2023, there were 508 applicants for new student candidates at three faculties at UNAIM Yapis Wamena, but 477 people passed the selection. Meanwhile, the number of students who registered in the odd semester this year was around 1,200 students.

"Although the impact of Covid-19 is still felt by the community, including the world of education, we should be grateful, the number of active students this year has increased from the previous year. This cannot be separated from the assistance of all parties, especially scholarship assistance from the government," he said.
