BI distributes agricultural equipment assistance to farmers in Sorong

Bank Indonesia representatives from West Papua Province provided agricultural equipment assistance to farmer groups in Sorong district as an effort to control inflation.

Agricultural equipment assistance in the form of two cultivators or mini tractors for the forest farmer group Dewe Makmur was handed over to Bank Indonesia West Papua representative Rommy Sariu Tamawiwy during the launch of the national movement to control food inflation in Sorong Regency, Friday.

Head of Bank Indonesia West Papua Representative Office, Rommy Sariu Tamawiwy, said that the assistance was part of Bank Indonesia's commitment to encourage the revival of food strength in the local area.

According to him, if farmer groups are equipped with adequate equipment, it will certainly inspire enthusiasm to continue planting.

If agricultural activities run well and production runs smoothly, it will certainly be able to control food inflation in Indonesia, especially West Papua.

It is said, if inflation is controlled, people will also feel the impact, namely economic conditions will improve and prosperous lives.

Therefore, he said, the responsibility for controlling inflation is not only the government, but also how to improve food security through agriculture.

Bank Indonesia hopes that regional heads in the West Papua region echo the national movement to control food inflation in their respective regions.
