KSP: President's Commitment to Build Indonesia-centric starting from the Land of Papua

The Presidential Staff Office stated that the administration of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had adopted two approaches in an effort to develop Papua for the past 3 years, namely the infrastructure and human resources (HR) approach.

Deputy V for Security and Human Rights of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Jaleswari Pramodhawardani in a press release received in Jakarta, Friday, said that these two approaches are the basis for development in Bumi Cendrawasih which will continue.

Jaleswari Pramodhawardani hopes that the local government in Papua will follow up on the basis that has been built by continuing to get closer and building a two-way communication pattern with communities scattered throughout the Earth of Cendrawasih.

In addition, according to him, the most important thing is how public services and the fulfillment of community rights continue to be put forward.

He said that President Jokowi at every opportunity has emphasized that the current national development paradigm is not Java or Sumatra centric, but must be oriented towards Indonesia centric.

According to him, since the beginning of his administration, Jokowi has been committed to building a centric Indonesia starting from the Land of Papua.

“Mr. President has visited Papua 15 times. That's important because the Head of State sees it based on data and facts," Jaleswari said as quoted by Antara.

It is also said that Jokowi's infrastructure approach is carried out from the most basic things, from education to health services.

Since the first period of President Jokowi's administration until the second term with Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, the commitment to bring social justice to all Indonesian people, including Papua and West Papua, has been maintained.

This commitment, said Jaleswari, is not just rhetoric, but is presented by Jokowi through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua and West Papua. This Presidential Instruction requires 43 ministries/institutions to participate in accelerating the development of the welfare of the Land of Papua.

“So, it's not just a commitment to visit there which has been there 15 times, but through the issuance of supporting regulations that are all contained in the National Medium-Term Development Plan. In fact, specifically for Papua, it has become a National Priority Program," he said.

Regarding the development of Papua's human resources, Jaleswari said that the Government did not only take a security approach, but also a welfare approach. Indigenous Papuans with their affirmative policies can get the fulfillment of rights that have not been optimal, including the cultural approach.

Jaleswari then gave an example of human resource development. In this case, the Government does not only fulfill the rights to education, health, and so on, but also provides ongoing assistance, in addition to budget allocations that must be right on target.

"The decision to implement the National Sports Week in Papua until the one-price fuel oil policy can be successfully realized there. This is proof that the commitment that is carried out optimally will realize Indonesia's national development," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Government Policy Support and National Insight at the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Velix Wanggai, emphasized that the Government has laid the foundation for development in Papua for the next 20 years.

“This means that in the last 8 years and that foundation has become important for us Papuan people. Later, the policy will be called the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Development for Papua 2022-2041, and will be a reference for the formulation of the RPJMN and RPJMD," said Velix.

Velix gave an example of the government's policy of increasing 2.25 percent of the special autonomy fund (otsus) from the national general allocation fund (DAU) ceiling which will bring many positive changes in Papua, as well as strengthen communication between the central government and all regional governments in Papua, in order to encourage accelerated development. in various fields.

From the Regional Autonomy (OTDA) policy, he continued, the Government has proven that public services are getting closer to the community and have an impact on Papua's economic growth. Meanwhile, in terms of culture, he assessed that the government had used a very good approach based on local wisdom and customs.
