KPK Says There Are Other Suspects in the Luke Enembe Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the wife and children of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, namely Yulce Wenda and Astract Bona Timoramo Enembe were summoned as witnesses not only for Lukas. The KPK opens the possibility that there are other suspects in the alleged bribery and gratification case that dragged the name of the number one person in Papua.
"We also emphasize that the summons to LE's wife and children (Lukas Enembe) is also for other suspects, not only for LE," said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (10/10). /2022).
However, Ali was reluctant to detail the identity of the other suspects in this case. He requested that Lukas' wife and children comply with the investigator's summons to uncover allegations of bribery and gratuities in Papua.
"So we hope that the person concerned is cooperative and attends according to the schedule, time and place in the summons that we have conveyed properly," said Ali. "With this cooperative attitude, the law enforcement process becomes faster, more effective, and efficient. The KPK also ensures that in handling this case, we uphold the principle of the presumption of innocence."
Previously reported, the legal and advocacy team of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe visited the Red and White Building of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), South Jakarta, Monday (10/10/2022). They came to convey information from Luke's wife and children, namely Yulce Wenda and Extract Bona Timoramo Enembe, who refused to be witnesses in the alleged bribery and gratification case in Papua.
"Lukas Enembe's mother (Yulce) and her son Bona exercised their constitutional rights, their legal rights to refuse to be heard as witnesses," said member of Lukas' legal and advocacy team, Petrus Bala Pattyona.
Petrus explained that the basis for the rejection was regulated in Article 35 of the Corruption Law and Article 168 paragraph 2 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He said the regulation states that members of the nuclear family, such as wives and children, have the right to refuse to give information to investigators because they have blood relations with the suspect.
"So, basically we refused, and after the letter (submitted to the KPK), we on behalf of Lukas Enembe's mother and her son Bona conveyed our rejection, and the refusal was indeed explicitly regulated in the law, namely the rights granted by law. So Indeed, our arrival was only to convey that," he said.
