60 Papuan Youth Receive Scholarships from BNPT-Kemendikbud

A total of 60 young Papuans received a Papua Hati program scholarship in collaboration between the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) and the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud).

Scholarships were given in the form of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIPK) to 60 Papuan children in Jayapura on Friday (7/10/2022).
 
The scholarship award is a form of the state's presence in an effort to build national preparedness in preventing the younger generation from being exposed to the ideology of radicalism, terrorism, which justifies violence.

Head of BNPT, Komjen Pol Boy Rafli Amar hopes that the educational scholarships can improve the quality of the younger generation to build Indonesia, especially Papua which is advanced, peaceful and harmonious.
 
"We are entering the era of demographic bonus where productive age is very dominant and with educated human resources we can welcome Indonesia into gold, we can bring progress to Papua in the future," said Boy Rafli, who is a former Papuan Police Chief.

Meanwhile, the Head of Regional Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region XIV, Suriel Mofu appreciated BNPT for being present for Papua.
 
He is optimistic that this scholarship program will become the capital of the younger generation of Papua to fight terrorism radicalism from upstream to downstream.

"BNPT helps us to oversee so that the recipients of higher education scholarships increase this year, the quality of (human resources) is the capital of this nation, so that they become a quality nation, they consciously decide to do something against (terrorist radicalism)," said Suriel.

In addition, BNPT also held a series of activities to prevent radicalism and terrorism in Papua. These include the inauguration of the Papua Province Maya World Peace Ambassador, the declaration of national preparedness and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between BNPT and BAMAG, the Indonesian Christian Religious Institute.
