Village Funds Allegedly Flowing to West Papua KKB, BNPT Waits for Investigation Results

Allegations of the flow of village funds flowing to the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua are currently being investigated by the police.

Efforts to take action against KKB, the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) are waiting for the results of the investigation by the relevant law enforcement officers.

"The allegations are indeed heard but we need evidence to strengthen the law enforcement process against village fund irregularities," said BNPT Head Boy Rafli Amar at TMP Kalibata, Jakarta, Thursday (10/11/2022).

According to Boy Rafli, the results of the investigation will be an indication of the existence of irregularities and where the village funds are flowing.

If the allegations are proven, then the perpetrators can be criminally processed, and even charged with terrorism laws.

"Of course if it flows to armed criminal groups, this could be even worse, because armed criminal groups are groups that today have been declared by the government to be part of acts of terrorism," he said.

Boy also emphasized the importance of supervision by all stakeholders so that village funds are truly channeled for development and village economic growth.

"We remind that certain parties should not provide support for acts of extreme violence, let alone cause many casualties," said Boy.

As previously reported, West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga admitted that there was a request to block village fund accounts in three villages in Bintuni Bay, West Papua.

The reason is that village funds are suspected to have flowed from several village heads to the armed criminal group (KKB) in Bintuni Bay.

Daniel asked that the village funds be evaluated on this suspicion because the police found several villages uninhabited after pursuing KKB.

"It was evaluated because the results of yesterday's incident (the attack on road workers) turned out that not all of the money was actually received by the residents there. Therefore, they agreed to be evaluated first," said Daniel.
